Kheerganga – The Hippie Trail Cleanness Drive

Kheerganga is located about 65km away from the Bhunter, the operational airport of Kullu Valley, its around 22kms far from famous pilgrimage town of Manikaran. Trekking through the dense forests, paddy fields, hilly villages is really exciting, and having a bath at Kheerganga hot springs is a bonus experience. Barshaini is the last motorable point, It takes almost 6hours to reach Kheerganga from Barshaini.

Every destination has an ideal ecological balance that needs to maintain for the micro-ecosystem to remain stable and healthy for all humans, flora and fauna to have a sustainable healthy life there. Tourism increases footprint and contributes to depletion of the micro-ecosystem of these destinations.  The famous trek to Kheerganga in the Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh is now a site of irresponsible waste management. This has happened due to Increase in influx from tourism and touristic activities, Improper waste disposal and management, Lack of awareness amongst locals  and tourists.

Hence, a campaign to clean the trail with proper waste segregation and management drive was held on the 11th and 12th June, 2016 association with Eco Traveller. This was consisting of volunteers from different parts of India and abroad, who all are passionate about travelling. Ecotourism is now defined as “responsible travel to natural areas that conserves the environment. Due to Kheerganga is an overly famous destination for hippies and backpackers across the globe, and lack of awareness amongst locals, the place had became a garbage bin beyond imagination. It is the need of the hour to address waste issues before the destination permanently depletes. As an responsible traveller we are trying to create a conscious travelling culture, which includes giving back to the communities, respect to local culture, carrying back your waste and of-course environment protection.

I am a born traveler..... travelling is my passion. I unconditionally love to have my bag packed and carry in my back, walk on streets, hilly slopes. It gives me happiness, Joy and sense of fulfillment . I always suggest friends do not to waste precious time world is waiting for your... Pack your Bag.... Tighten your laces and Live your life Now.... and Ever... The woods are lovely, dark and deep, But I have promises to keep, And miles to go before I sleep, And miles to go before I sleep.
